Case Study: Cross Country Alignment Transcending Silos
We unified teams through employee-led innovation. From scattered silos to shared solutions, one employee story at a time.
Client: Multinational Technology & Manufacturing Corporation (Confidential)
Role: Employee Experience Strategist & Workshop Facilitator
Team: Big 4 Consultancy (cross-functional research and facilitation team)
Challenge: Thousands of employees working in vastly different domains—from aerospace to consumer electronics—all operating with minimal cross-team visibility. The lack of connection between groups led to inefficiencies, duplicated efforts, and missed opportunities to scale great ideas.
Opportunity: Help leadership gain a clearer view of the employee experience and use it to guide strategic alignment.
To bridge the gaps across teams, we focused on human-centered design and systems thinking, starting at the ground level and building upward into executive decision-making.
Map the Experience
We selected representatives from five diverse business units and conducted interviews to capture a detailed picture of their day-to-day work. I led the creation of employee journey maps that visualized workflows, pain points, and moments of impact.Find Patterns & Solutions
Through synthesis, we identified shared challenges across domains—communication delays, process redundancies, and gaps in recognition. Surprisingly, many teams had already built internal programs or workarounds to address these. We documented these grassroots innovations to surface bottom-up leadership.Design for Alignment
We planned and facilitated a three-day leadership workshop with executives from each group and top-tier leadership. We presented the journey maps and employee-led programs, then guided participants through collaborative exercises to:Identify initiatives that addressed pain points across multiple teams
Sponsor select programs as official enterprise-wide solutions
Co-create a shared vision, North Star, and strategic roadmap
By starting with lived experience and surfacing employee-led innovation, we helped leadership shift from disconnected management to aligned strategic sponsorship. This project highlighted how deep listening and storytelling, through tools like journey maps and well-facilitated workshops, can transform complex organizations. The organization emerged with:
A clear understanding of shared challenges across siloed teams
A set of officially sponsored initiatives rooted in real employee success stories
Stronger connections between leaders who now had a shared language and purpose
A sustainable framework for cross-team innovation and cultural cohesion
It was a powerful reminder: sometimes the answers aren’t in the boardroom—they’re already being tested on the floor.
